Injuries
Thiago Alcantara
Thiago has been sidelined since requiring surgery on a hip issue that ruled him out of the final weeks of the 2022-23 campaign.
Pepijn Lijnders, speaking on September 26: “He is in a good way, the healing process is going well so that’s the most important [thing] at this moment.”
Stefan Bajcetic
Bajcetic is currently being treated for a calf issue as he makes a return from a previous long-term injury.
Jürgen Klopp on September 29: “Stefan had a little, little setback. The problem with Stefan is I can imagine everyone wants to see him play more – I want – but we have to be really careful. And now it’s a little, little, little tiny calf issue. That’s how it is when you are six months out.
“And we try everything to get him up to speed without pushing him. We make a very specific plan for him but in the end it’s disappointing for him, of course, but for us as well that he got another one. So we have to take him out a little bit. He can work on pretty much everything else but not playing. That’s it, I would say.”
Conor Bradley
The full-back is sidelined at the moment due to an injury, with Klopp confirming on September 29 he is still out.
Cody Gakpo
Gakpo sustained an injury shortly before scoring in the first half of the Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on September 30 and is currently unavailable.
Suspensions
Curtis Jones
The midfielder is set to serve a three-match Premier League ban following a red card at Tottenham, ruling him out of fixtures with Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton and Nottingham Forest in October.
Diogo Jota
Jota will serve a one-match suspension following his two yellow cards and sending-off versus Tottenham, ruling him out of the trip to Brighton.
