Jurgen Klopp might greenlight the return of an injured Liverpool player before the conclusion of December, as suggested by Neil Jones.

Diogo Jota, who sustained a muscle injury during the late November match against Manchester City and is among six key Reds players sidelined, could potentially miss upcoming Premier League fixtures against Manchester United and Arsenal, having already sat out four consecutive games. However, signs indicate his return is imminent.

Jones mentioned to EOTK Insider that Liverpool anticipates Jota’s return, stating, “We think he should be back, possibly by New Year’s Day if not for Burnley.” Despite Jota’s recent absence, the situation is not long-term, as he resumed running last week, although the return might have been sooner.

With Liverpool currently enduring their busiest phase of the season, Jota’s absence has impacted the team. Klopp has had limited opportunities to rotate among his four senior forwards, with Thursday’s Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise being the only realistic chance to rest players like Mo Salah, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez.

The possibility of Jota making a comeback on Boxing Day against Burnley is being considered, presenting a welcome prospect for their sixth consecutive game.

Following that, a six-day interval precedes Newcastle’s visit to Anfield on New Year’s Day, appearing as a plausible timeline for Jota’s return to the field.

Whenever the Portuguese attacker is fit to play again, his return will be appreciated. Having scored in eight out of 17 games played this season (per Transfermarkt), his consistent performance is valued when he’s on the pitch.
