Mo Salah is having one of his best seasons at Liverpool, sparking calls from fans for a new contract for the “Egyptian King.”
In the recent win over Aston Villa, Salah showcased his skills once again with a decisive goal in the second half. While an upcoming international break would usually worry Liverpool fans, they can now rest easier knowing Salah won’t be joining Egypt for their next African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Egyptian FA announced on X that Salah, now 32, isn’t included in Hossam Hassan’s squad for matches against Cape Verde and Botswana.
Salah will be resting during this international break, likely due to concerns over the risk of injury from potentially poor playing surfaces.
With other attackers like Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa sidelined, Liverpool can’t afford further injuries up front, so having Salah fully rested for their next match against Southampton is welcome news.
This time off from international duty could also allow Liverpool to work on securing a new contract for him.
