If Liverpool makes the Champions League this year, it’s possible that they may make a move for West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen.
Mohamed Salah, who has been linked with a departure to Saudi Arabia for several months, is presently being replaced, and Jurgen Klopp is evaluating potential alternatives.
This summer, Al-Ittihad made a sizable offer of £150 million for Salah, and rumors indicate that they were prepared to offer up to £215 million for the Egyptian star. Although the Saudi club is likely to attempt again in January, Liverpool resisted and rejected their advances.
It would be a major setback for Liverpool if Salah were to depart. The 31-year-old already holds the record for most Premier League goals scored by the Reds, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
Last season, he scored 30 goals and provided 16 assists. Salah has had a strong start to the season as well, contributing four assists and scoring twice in Liverpool’s first five Premier League games.
If Salah does depart, Klopp will undoubtedly have a difficult time replacing him. Their prospects of signing the England international allegedly hinge on where they place in the league standings, though Bowen may very well be the player they turn to at the end of the season.
Liverpool is eager to sign Bowen.
Ben Jacobs, a transfer journalist, claims that Liverpool has made Bowen their top choice to take Salah’s spot. However, they won’t pursue him until they secure a spot in the Champions League.
Bowen had a fantastic 2022–2023 campaign at West Ham. Last season, he made eight assists in addition to his 13 goals. The Hammers won their first significant prize since 1980 thanks to his goal in the Europa Conference League final.
He has been in excellent form thus far this season, just like Salah, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
According to a CaughtOffside report, West Ham values Bowen at £75 million, so he wouldn’t be an inexpensive addition. He has a deal with the London Stadium till 2025.
Bowen would be open to a move to Anfield but because he has supported Liverpool since he was a young child.
With Salah’s potential departure appearing more and more likely, it will be intriguing to watch if Liverpool does make an offer for Bowen at the conclusion of the season.
