Manchester United have reportedly agreed to transfer midfielder Scott McTominay.
The midfielder, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, has a contract that runs until 2025, with an option for an additional year.
Despite starting United’s first two Premier League games of the season and playing as a substitute in their recent 2-1 loss to Brighton, the club has now decided to let him go.
According to The Athletic, United have reached an agreement with Napoli for McTominay’s transfer, valued at around €30 million.
Should McTominay agree to personal terms with the Italian club, this move would end his 22-year tenure with United. The deal reportedly includes a sell-on clause.
This sale would help United comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), as McTominay, being an academy graduate, would be considered ‘pure profit’ in the financial records.
Earlier this summer, United rejected several offers for the midfielder, including a £20 million bid from Fulham.
Last season, McTominay was United’s joint-third top scorer, netting 10 goals across all competitions, primarily due to his late runs into the box and aerial ability. He also occasionally filled in as a center forward.
