On Saturday, Manchester United sought to prolong their unbeaten streak of seven games against Fulham at Old Trafford.

Amidst controversy surrounding Harry Maguire’s participation, he managed to level the score in the 89th minute.

However, Fulham dealt a devastating blow when Alex Iwobi netted in the seventh minute of added time, securing a 2-1 triumph for the visitors.

This loss leaves United trailing fourth-placed Aston Villa by eight points in the race for Champions League qualification next season.

Post-match, United’s captain, Fernandes, expressed frustration towards referee Oliver as the final whistle blew.

Reflecting on his match-winning goal, Iwobi expressed joy at rejoining the team and clinching a vital victory.

He stressed the team’s recent strong showings and the significance of converting opportunities into goals. The triumph bolsters Fulham’s confidence, affirming their capability to compete at a high level.

Looking ahead, United must regather for a significant showdown against local rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium next Sunday.

Before the Manchester derby, United will also encounter Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Wednesday evening at the City Ground.

The defeat against Fulham acts as a setback for United’s Champions League ambitions, underscoring the necessity for improved performances in crucial encounters.

Despite the setback, United must concentrate on bouncing back and delivering formidable displays in upcoming matches.
