During the summer transfer window, Manchester United secured Andre Onana instead of their primary choice, Jan Oblak, aiming to strengthen their goalkeeping roster.

Since leaving Inter Milan, the Cameroonian international’s performance for the Red Devils has been inconsistent, despite starting his career at Inter Milan. According to reports, United is once again pursuing Oblak, based on sources.

There’s an expectation that Julen Agirrezabala from Athletic Bilbao will take over as the successor to the 30-year-old goalkeeper at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The former Benfica star, Oblak, is the highest-paid player on the team, earning over £305,000 per week. His contract with Atletico Madrid is due to expire in the summer of 2028, making him one of the club’s top earners.

Widely regarded as one of the top goalkeepers globally, Oblak has participated in 310 La Liga matches, keeping 152 clean sheets, which accounts for 49% of the total—a league record.

Having spent over a decade at Atletico Madrid, it appears that a new challenge might be on the horizon, signaling a potential change for Oblak.

For Manchester United to strengthen their goalkeeping section, they need a world-class goalkeeper. The decision to replace David De Gea with Andre Onana didn’t prove successful.

In your opinion, should they make a significant investment to acquire Jan Oblak?
