Manchester United has been banned from the UEFA Europa League for violating dual club ownership rules.

UEFA has decided whether to exclude Manchester United and Manchester City from the Europa League and Champions League.

According to The Times, UEFA has approved both clubs to participate in the same European competitions as their sister clubs this season, albeit with restrictions.

Currently, regulations prevent teams from competing in the same tournament if they share ownership with another team. Sir Jim Ratcliffe owns both Nice, which qualified for the Europa League, and a minority stake in Manchester United.

Similarly, Girona, part of the City Football Group, qualified for the Champions League alongside Manchester City by finishing third in La Liga.

However, UEFA will permit both Manchester teams to compete in Europe next season with their sister clubs if Nice and Girona are managed through a “blind trust.”

The Club Financial Control Board (CFCB) of UEFA is expected to finalize this decision on Monday.
