According to a report, Manchester United would only consider selling Marcus Rashford if he expressed a desire to leave and a substantial offer was made.
Rashford has struggled to replicate his impressive form from the 2023/24 season, scoring only eight goals and providing five assists in 40 appearances for the Red Devils.
Multiple reports on Monday suggested that United are willing to let Rashford go as part of their summer rebuilding plans, with Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Hojlund being the only untouchable players.
However, according to The Athletic, Rashford’s departure would depend on two conditions: a significant offer for the forward and his request to leave the club.
United’s priority is to retain Rashford and help him regain his form from the 2022/23 season, when he scored a career-high 30 goals and made 10 assists in 56 appearances.
Earlier this year, 90min reported that Paris Saint-Germain had Rashford on a shortlist of potential Kylian Mbappe successors.
Rashford met with PSG in 2022 and 2023 but seemed to use their interest as leverage to secure a new contract with United, eventually signing a deal worth £325,000 per week last summer.
United manager Erik ten Hag has been openly supportive of Rashford, who recently spoke out against the abuse he has faced this season.
“I feel a lot of compassion for Rashy,” Ten Hag stated before Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Burnley. “Last year, he had a fantastic season, the finest of his career with 30 goals.
“This season, he did not provide the results that people expected, and as a result, they are quite critical. I believe we have to support him. Everyone should support him and encourage him to return to the levels he achieved last year.
“I believe he requires help. We all know what he is capable of. We all need to support but also challenge him. He can do better than he is doing this year, as we saw last year when he was really good.”
