Yoro, who joined Manchester United from Lille on July 18, had to be substituted in the first half of a recent match due to an ankle injury.

This incident has raised concerns about his fitness, particularly since he had only been participating in half of the training sessions since joining the team.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag addressed these injuries in his post-match interview with MUTV.

When asked about the conditions of Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro, Ten Hag said, “It is too short [notice]; we have to wait over 24 hours, and then we will hopefully know more.”

He expressed disappointment about Yoro’s early exit, especially given the caution with his training. “We were very careful, especially with Leny.

He did only 50 percent of the sessions, so it was very disappointing that he had to come off. But let’s be positive and see what comes out,” Ten Hag added.

Despite not showing extensive concern in the interview, The Times reported that Ten Hag left the SoFi Stadium fearing that Yoro, a £52 million signing, might be sidelined for a considerable period.

This highlights the severity of the injury and its potential impact on the team’s plans for the season.

Clubs typically wait 24 hours before scanning injuries to allow the swelling around the affected area to subside, ensuring a more accurate assessment.

Fans grew anxious when they noticed both Hojlund and Yoro were missing from a training video on Manchester United’s official Instagram account on Monday morning, leading to numerous comments and questions from concerned supporters.

Despite the injuries, Ten Hag remained optimistic about his team’s overall performance, even though they suffered a 2-1 defeat against last season’s Premier League runners-up.

“I think [the game] was a very good level for the third week of pre-season, from both sides, but in the first half, I thought we were the better team,” he said.

He praised a well-executed goal created by Marcus Rashford and finished by Hojlund, expressing his pleasure with this aspect of the game.

Ten Hag also noted that his team created several good chances and was unfortunate to concede a goal that was offside.

Looking ahead, he emphasized the importance of preparing the team for their next match and recovering quickly.

“It is a short slot and we are there [in San Diego] quickly, so we have to prepare the team. We must be ready, and of course, we have to recover from this and then go again [on Thursday],” Ten Hag concluded.

This situation underscores the challenges faced by Manchester United as they navigate pre-season injuries and prepare for the upcoming season.

The health and readiness of key players like Hojlund and Yoro will be crucial in determining the team’s performance and success.
