Manchester United are closely tracking several players nearing the end of their contracts as they aim to bolster the squad with smart free transfers and potential swap deals ahead of the summer window.

The club is prioritizing experienced, high-impact, and versatile options who can strengthen key areas without demanding hefty transfer fees.

One key target is Arsenal’s Thomas Partey. United are monitoring his contract situation and could make a move if the Gunners opt not to extend his stay.

Partey’s midfield presence, physicality, and composure make him an appealing addition, especially on a free transfer.

Kyle Walker-Peters of Southampton is also under consideration. Should the Saints be relegated, he could become available at little to no cost.

His ability to cover both full-back positions offers United depth and flexibility.

The most eye-catching — albeit unlikely — name linked is Lionel Messi. While he’s currently at Inter Miami, rumors suggest a possible European return.

If that happens, United would reportedly be open to exploring the possibility, no matter how improbable

Another potential addition is Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina. While he’s expressed a desire to stay, his unresolved contract status could give United a window to move in. His adaptability across the defense would be a major asset.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also on the radar, with his Everton deal still unsettled. The striker could be seen as an ideal backup or rotation option to support Rasmus Højlund.

Angel Gomes, a former United academy product now thriving at Lille, is being watched as a potential returnee if contract talks in France stall.

Similarly, Olivier Boscagli of PSV and Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell are both admired for their technical quality and tactical reliability.

In a bold twist, Kevin De Bruyne is reportedly on the club’s extended watchlist.

Although a move to MLS seems more likely, United remain alert to any chance of securing the Manchester City icon—something that would send shockwaves through football.

Other names being monitored include Napoli’s André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané, Lille’s Jonathan David, and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

United’s strategy for the summer is clearly shaping up to be bold yet calculated, with a focus on reinforcing quality without breaking the bank.
