Manchester City is in trouble as they’ve received a warning from PGMOL regarding Financial Fair Play (FFP) violations, which could seriously affect the future of the Premier League powerhouse.

Arsenal received an update regarding the potential punishment for Manchester City’s 115 Financial Fair Play (FFP) charges, initially revealed in 2023 following reports of financial infractions spanning the previous decade. The matter resurfaced in November after Everton faced consequences for similar financial breaches.

Everton’s exceeding of the £105 million limit over a three-year span, now termed Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), resulted in a ten-point deduction. Everton’s penalty reignited discussions around potential repercussions for Chelsea and Manchester City.

While Chelsea has faced fines previously, the club is currently under investigation for alleged transaction-related payments, yet no formal charges have been brought against them. Meanwhile, Manchester City’s situation is expected to undergo an extensive inquiry, with a conclusive resolution unlikely for several years.

Despite this, a revised FFP timetable has emerged, raising concerns for two Premier League clubs—Everton being one—facing potential sanctions. According to The Times, the next two weeks will reveal which clubs might face charges for new financial rule breaches, causing unease for Everton and Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest invested significantly during their Championship promotion, yet the financial gains from entering the Premier League offset some expenses. However, their top-tier status led to increased salaries and substantial spending on high-profile transfers.

Given the distinct nature of each case, the likelihood of Chelsea and Manchester City facing penalties remains uncertain. While Chelsea’s financial issues are still under review, a thorough examination of every aspect of Manchester City’s case is necessary.

Under a new rule, any penalty decisions arising from significant progress in the case will be dealt with within the ongoing season. However, this provision applies only in straightforward cases, which remains highly improbable for Manchester City’s situation.
