According to recently released statistics, Manchester United made record-breaking money in the 2022–2023 season—this despite participating in the Europa League.

The Europa League is not as profitable as the Champions League because it is UEFA’s secondary club competition. United witnessed a large increase in both advertising and matchday income streams to counterbalance the minor decline in television revenue as a result.

In total, the club earned £648.4 million in the 12 months that concluded on June 30, 2023.

Due to compulsory clauses in player contracts in the event that the team does not qualify for the Champions League, the pay bill was lowered by £52.8 million in 2022–2023. However, despite greater revenues and lower salaries, the accounts balance showed a little operating deficit of £11.2 million.

The Glazer family is not believed to have received any dividends, with £33.6 million distributed in the previous year.

United is already projecting record earnings in 2023–2024—possibly as high as £680 million—after winning back to back to back Champions League seasons. Next summer will see the start of a lucrative new jersey sponsorship agreement with Qualcomm’s brand Snapdragon. Additionally, the adidas kit arrangement will be renewed starting in 2025.

The Glazer family announced about a year ago that they would be looking into “strategic alternatives,” and now the club is working to get Sir Jim Ratcliffe involved as a 25% minority owner who will still play a hands-on role. The INEOS billionaire defeated Sheikh Jassim of Qatar in the race, and one of his main goals is to improve and grow the team’s athletic department.
