Manchester United engaged in a tumultuous and thrilling 3-3 draw against Galatasaray in Istanbul during the fifth matchday of the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Having suffered defeats to Turkish giants along with Bayern Munich and Copenhagen this season, United were eager for a victory to revive their chances of progressing to the knockout rounds. They seemed on track multiple times, but it all unraveled in the end.
Early goals by Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes put the English side in a favorable position before Hakim Ziyech narrowed the gap with a free-kick. Despite Scott McTominay extending United’s lead to 3-1, a mistake by Andre Onana allowed Ziyech to score his second from another set-piece.
Kerem Akturkoglu’s exceptional strike eventually ensured both teams shared the points.
Rain had been pouring all day in Istanbul, initially raising doubts about whether the match would proceed. However, those concerns were brief, and the game went ahead as scheduled.
