Could Alexander Isak Be Liverpool’s Next Big Signing?
The phrase *“Alexander Isak has signed for Liverpool Football Club this summer in a club-record deal”* certainly has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
Liverpool may find themselves in urgent need of the Swedish striker’s services if they require a consistent goalscorer—especially if, worst-case scenario, Mohamed Salah decides to part ways with the club when his contract expires in June.
The Egyptian star has yet to sign an extension, and with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk also in the same position, uncertainty is creeping in as the deadline approaches.
Is a Move to Anfield on the Cards?
In a recent interview with *Sky Sports*, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak—who has been linked with Arsenal—instantly named Anfield as a stadium with an atmosphere comparable to St. James’ Park.
Of course, plenty of players who have never worn Liverpool’s iconic red have spoken highly of the historic stadium.
Admiring Anfield doesn’t necessarily mean Isak would be open to a move, but it certainly doesn’t hurt Liverpool’s chances, does it?
Addressing Liverpool’s Striker Dilemma
Even if Salah extends his stay beyond the 2024/25 season, Liverpool still face a pressing issue with their central striker options.
Diogo Jota, while a reliable goal contributor, has struggled with injuries—missing 16 games this season alone—making him difficult to depend on long-term.
Meanwhile, Darwin Núñez, despite being a fan favorite, has seen a noticeable dip in his goal output under Arne Slot, placing him in the “unreliable” category.
If Salah were to leave this summer, Liverpool would be left with a significant gap in their attacking firepower.
Why Isak Should Be a Priority Target
Regardless of Salah’s future, Isak should be on Liverpool’s radar.
He is currently one of the most lethal forwards in both the Premier League and Europe, with an impressive 24 goal contributions (19 goals, five assists) in 28 games across all competitions. That equates to a goal or assist every 91.25 minutes—an outstanding return.
If Liverpool are looking for a long-term solution in attack, Isak could be the perfect fit.
