Liverpool remain interested in Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel.
The Spanish international is highly regarded by manager Arne Slot and key figures at Anfield, although they acknowledge that a transfer is unlikely at the moment.
Zubimendi previously turned down Liverpool in the summer, but this hasn’t been a major setback for the club, as new signing Ryan Gravenberch has stepped up this season under Slot’s guidance.
While Zubimendi remains an appealing prospect for top clubs, Liverpool may continue to monitor him from a distance without urgently pursuing a deal.
Given their recent heavy investment in midfield — bringing in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Gravenberch — it’s worth questioning if Liverpool even need another midfielder. Gravenberch, in particular, has been impressive and is expected to continue developing.
