Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has confirmed that the Ligue 1 champions will be active in the summer transfer window, amid rumors linking them to Liverpool star Luis Diaz.
Late last season, reports suggested that the Colombian international might make a surprise move to Paris. Diaz, whose contract at Anfield runs until 2027, is among the players rumored to be leaving Liverpool during a summer of changes.
PSG are seeking a left-sided forward after Kylian Mbappe announced his departure. Mbappe, who played his last game for the club in the Coupe de France final win over Lyon, is expected to join Real Madrid.
Bradley Barcola has stepped in for Mbappe towards the end of the season, but PSG is likely to sign another wide attacker. After the 2-1 win over Lyon, Enrique discussed his plans to replace Mbappe next season.
“I was fortunate to coach Kylian this season. It’s been tough for him after seven years at the club and all he has achieved. It’s hard to say goodbye,” Enrique said. “There is no substitute for Mbappe.
We can’t replace him directly, but we will through the team and by making four, five, or six signings. Kylian’s replacement will be the collective effort of the team, our fans, and our ambition to win everything in the coming seasons.”
Diaz has recently addressed any uncertainty about his future. “I have grown a lot,” Diaz said after winning Liverpool’s player of the month award for April.
“From the start of my career to now, I feel that with each passing day and year, and through each experience with different teams, coming to this great club that is Liverpool has taught me a lot.
“You learn more and more to be a professional, to be a better person, a good teammate, and a good guy. I’m very happy to be here. Great years are coming for the club, I have no doubt about that.
“Personally, I will always try to do my best, give 100 percent, and always stand out on the field, which is what I came here to do. I’m always grateful to God for every opportunity.”
