Fabrizio Romano has shed light on Alexander Isak’s stance amid growing transfer interest from Liverpool this summer.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that Liverpool are now stepping up their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
While Newcastle’s Alexander Isak was also on their radar, the Swedish forward is reportedly staying composed as speculation swirls.
Although Newcastle are unlikely to sell Isak to a direct Premier League rival, the player himself hasn’t ruled out a possible move to Anfield. According to Romano, Isak is keeping his options open.
Isak Open to Anfield Switch
Romano said: “From what I’m hearing, Alexander Isak is very relaxed. He understands that Newcastle want to keep him and are preparing to offer a significant new contract.
“However, he’s also aware that Liverpool could offer not only a lucrative deal but also a compelling project. Isak hasn’t shut the door on that opportunity, and Liverpool wouldn’t have considered pursuing him unless they felt he was open to the move.”
Isak vs. Ekitike – Who Should Liverpool Choose?
Many Liverpool fans would likely favor Isak, who has already proven himself in the Premier League, over the less experienced Ekitike, who has yet to play in England.
Statistically, Isak appears to be the more reliable goal-scorer, though Ekitike is considered a versatile and well-rounded talent who could still be a strong addition under Arne Slot.
Still, there’s inherent risk in signing players from less competitive leagues. Darwin Núñez’s inconsistent performances since moving from Benfica are a reminder that success abroad doesn’t always translate in the Premier League.
