Liverpool are reportedly making progress in negotiations to potentially sign Sporting Lisbon center-back Goncalo Inacio as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk.
Sources informed CaughtOffside that there is uncertainty about Van Dijk’s future at Liverpool, leading the club to prioritize signing a new central defender this summer.
Inacio, who has a €60m release clause, is their top target, and there is optimism that Sporting may agree to a lower fee.
The 22-year-old Portugal international has also attracted interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, but Liverpool are now the frontrunners.
Additionally, Liverpool are considering other defensive options, including Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho.
In midfield, new manager Arne Slot is interested in Quinten Timber from Feyenoord and Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners, though Juventus is also pursuing the latter. Youssouf Fofana was previously on Liverpool’s radar but is now set to join AC Milan.
