One Liverpool player has hinted at potential “discussions” about his future at the club “over the coming weeks.”

Caoimhin Kelleher, whose contract runs until 2026, is now 25 and has not been able to displace Alisson Becker as Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper.

This has led to significant speculation about his immediate future.

In an interview with The Athletic, Kelleher, who believes he has proven himself capable of being a first-choice goalkeeper in the Premier League, suggested he might be open to leaving Anfield to secure regular playing time.

Regarding a possible move this summer, he stated, “There will be some discussions over the coming weeks.

The club was busy with the manager leaving and appointing a new one. With all the new staff arriving, those talks will happen.”

Kelleher has indicated he’s no longer satisfied being Alisson’s understudy, acknowledging that he’s competing with “the best goalkeeper in the world for years” (The Athletic).

After making 26 appearances this season and playing a crucial role in the Carabao Cup final three months ago, he believes he deserves to be a regular starter in the Premier League.

His long tenure at Liverpool, despite the stiff competition from the brilliant Brazilian, is commendable.

If he decides to move on to prove himself elsewhere, it would be understandable. Should that happen, Liverpool’s management must quickly find a replacement of similar quality.

While Alisson remains the undisputed starter, his history of injuries means having a capable deputy is essential.
