With just a couple of weeks remaining in the current transfer window, it seems that Liverpool and Newcastle still have some business they want to finalize.

Both clubs have had relatively quiet summers so far, but there’s still time to make deals in key areas.

Liverpool is looking to fund a move for Anthony Gordon by selling Luis Diaz

As the 2024/25 season kicks off this weekend, it’s likely that both Arne Slot and Eddie Howe will want to avoid significant squad changes once the first match of the campaign begins.

Liverpool is set to face Ipswich Town at Portman Road, while Newcastle will host newly promoted Southampton.

However, these games might come too soon for any last-minute deals, though reports cited by Fichajes suggest that Liverpool would likely accept a bid of around £50m for their Colombian winger, Luis Diaz.

Despite his undeniable talent, Diaz has never truly settled at Anfield and has shown inconsistency, sometimes playing brilliantly and other times frustratingly poorly.

This inconsistency might have led Liverpool to consider him surplus to requirements.

Newcastle’s winger, Anthony Gordon, has been on Liverpool’s radar for a while, but neither Gordon nor the Magpies have shown any interest in making the deal happen.

Therefore, it could be a challenging transfer to complete, but as long as there’s time left in the window, Liverpool might believe they still have a chance—especially since Gordon hasn’t publicly dismissed the circulating rumors.

Despite heavy speculation, Liverpool have opted not to move forward with a potential £85 million deal for Alexander Isak. Instead, the club has shifted its transfer focus and funds toward other priority targets who are considered more suited to Arne Slot’s tactical plans.

“I’m ready to sign for Liverpool immediately if he’s no longer in the squad. Once that condition is met, I’d be happy to make the move to Anfield” – those are the words of top defensive target Marc Guehi, who has made it clear he’s open to joining Liverpool, but only on one condition: the departure of a key current Reds player.
