Real Madrid introduced Kylian Mbappe to a packed Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday, where the superstar revealed he had turned down other offers to join the La Liga champions.
Mbappe, a lifelong Madrid fan, had long dreamed of wearing the club’s iconic white kit. Despite nearly joining in 2022, the 25-year-old stayed at Paris Saint-Germain for two more years.
This summer, Real Madrid finally secured Mbappe’s signature.
At his unveiling, Mbappe admitted rejecting other offers to join the reigning Champions League winners, stating via Fabrizio Romano:
“I had other offers, but I always told them no. I was very confident that this moment would happen. Real Madrid was my only option.”
Although destined for Real Madrid, Mbappe had other opportunities for the 2024/25 season.
PSG, eager to retain their star player, was an obvious contender. Liverpool also showed interest, though the financial demands made a transfer difficult.
Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal bid €300 million for Mbappe last summer, but the French star declined as a move to the Middle East was never in his plans.
Ultimately, Mbappe was determined to join Real Madrid, ensuring nothing stood in the way of his dream move.
