Florian Wirtz is set to be officially unveiled as a Liverpool player very soon.

The Reds now appear to be prioritizing the completion of his transfer before finalizing a deal for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

Wirtz’s former Bayer Leverkusen teammate, Jeremie Frimpong, has already joined Arne Slot’s squad, alongside summer recruit Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia.

This flurry of activity follows the reopening of the summer transfer window on Monday, June 16.

When will Liverpool announce the Wirtz signing?

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the official announcement is scheduled for Friday.

All terms between Liverpool and Leverkusen have reportedly been settled, pending a medical. Wirtz has not yet undergone the medical as he’s been enjoying his holiday break.

Liverpool have agreed to a deal worth £100 million up front, with an additional £16 million in performance-based add-ons — including milestones such as winning the Champions League, Premier League, and Wirtz claiming the Ballon d’Or.

What is Wirtz’s expected salary?

There has been some uncertainty regarding Wirtz’s wages, with earlier reports suggesting he could earn more than £300,000 per week.

However, more credible sources indicate that Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes has secured a more financially sound package.

According to The Athletic, Wirtz will earn around £200,000 a week, with performance bonuses included — a typical structure in Liverpool’s wage model, as seen with Mo Salah.

Is this Liverpool’s biggest-ever signing?

In terms of upfront payment, yes — the £100 million fee marks a new club record.

Previously, the highest fee was £75 million for Virgil van Dijk. Darwin Nunez could surpass that total if all his performance clauses are activated, but as of now, Wirtz holds the title.

This deal is a significant jump from past records, but there’s strong belief that Liverpool have made a worthwhile investment in one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
