By the conclusion of the season, broadcaster Richard Keys believes Mohamed Salah, one of Liverpool’s most important players, may leave the team. There is still interest from other teams despite Salah being signed by Liverpool to a new deal that will keep him under contract until the 2024–25 season, making him the most paid player in the club’s history. A significant deal of up to £150 million was made for Salah by Al-Ittihad, the Saudi Pro League champions from the previous campaign, but Liverpool turned it down. But Keys doesn’t think Salah is no longer being pursued.
In an interview with Andy Gray on beIN Sports, Keys raises the possibility that Salah’s season at Liverpool may be coming to an end. He notes that although Salah has made a significant effect on English football, he hasn’t won any major individual honors like the Ballon d’Or. Keys highlights Salah’s remarkable influence and raises the question of whether Salah has gotten the full recognition for his contributions to Liverpool.
Salah scored 30 goals for Liverpool in all competitions last season despite agreeing to a new contract. Liverpool, however, missed out on the Champions League this season as a result of finishing outside the top four. Instead, they qualified for the Europa League. Salah has already scored ten goals or more this season in a number of competitions, most notably the Premier League.
In response to earlier rumors, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa emphasized Salah’s dedication to Liverpool and dispelled the suspicions of a possible transfer. Still, Al-Ittihad may spark their curiosity again in 2024. After a run of five games without a victory, the Saudi team, led by Nuno Espirito Santo, strengthened their roster with high-profile additions; however, they are currently 11 points behind Al-Hilal, the leaders of the Saudi Pro League.
