Liverpool fans urge player to quit the club in January following Man City loss.

Liverpool fans have demanded that one player be sold in January following his disappointing display at the Etihad.

It was another dismal afternoon in the Premier League for Arne Slot’s side, as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in his 1000th game as a manager.

Erling Haaland broke the deadlock in the 29th minute after seeing his earlier penalty saved by stand-in goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Liverpool briefly thought they had equalised through Virgil van Dijk, but the goal was ruled out as Andy Robertson was judged offside in the build-up.

A Premier League statement confirmed: “The referee’s on-field decision of offside and no goal to Liverpool was reviewed and upheld by VAR — with Robertson in an offside position, making a clear action that interfered with the goalkeeper.”

City extended their lead before halftime through Nico Gonzalez, and Jeremy Doku sealed the victory with a brilliant second-half strike.

While Liverpool’s overall performance drew criticism, much of the fan frustration was aimed at Ibrahima Konaté. His display came under heavy scrutiny, especially amid rumors linking him with a possible free transfer move at the end of the season.

One fan wrote: “Sell Konaté in January — he looks disinterested, like his head’s already in Madrid.”

Another added: “Konaté has to go in January. His passing and decision-making are awful, and he’s lost his strength.”

A third joked: “Can we arrange transport for Konaté to Madrid in January? Gomez can handle the rest of the season.”

A fourth commented: “When Konaté makes one mistake, ten more follow. He completely loses focus — total liability.”

Another fan quipped: “If Madrid take Konaté for free, we’ve absolutely robbed them.”
