Liverpool are now prepared to submit a £75m bid to secure a rising star dubbed the “next Neymar” for Arne Slot.

A Bundesliga expert has revealed how much Liverpool might need to pay to secure a promising forward from Germany’s top flight, someone they have reportedly been monitoring closely.

According to a recent report from CaughtOffside, Liverpool are exploring the possibility of signing RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons, whose price tag has recently dropped from €100m (£83.7m).

Leipzig reportedly acknowledge that they may not be able to keep him long-term, making a transfer more feasible.

In his latest Fact Files column for The Daily Briefing, journalist Christian Falk provided insight into Simons’ situation.

While he didn’t mention Liverpool directly, he confirmed that Leipzig could be open to selling the Dutch international if a suitable offer arrives.

Falk explained that Leipzig are keen to retain Simons, unlike Benjamin Sesko, who has an agreement allowing him to leave if a club meets his valuation.

However, there is also a gentleman’s agreement with Simons, and given that Leipzig haven’t yet paid the full €80m in add-ons for his transfer, they are looking to make a profit.

While an offer below €60m would likely be rejected, a bid of around €70m (£59m) could be enough to secure the forward if he decides he’s ready for a Premier League move.

Manchester City and Manchester United have shown interest, though United’s financial situation makes a move uncertain.

Liverpool’s strong history with Leipzig—having previously signed Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate, and Dominik Szoboszlai—could work in their favor. However, much will depend on the club’s summer priorities.

As The Athletic’s James Pearce has pointed out, Liverpool’s transfer budget could largely hinge on the contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk.

Simons has been praised by Bayern Munich’s sporting director Christoph Freund as an “exceptional player” with the right mentality to thrive at the highest level. Leipzig manager Marco Rose has also labeled him a “difference maker.”

The key question for Liverpool’s recruitment team is whether they see Simons as a priority signing. With a potential price tag of €70m, it remains to be seen if FSG are willing to fund a move and how strongly they will push for the Dutch star this summer.
