Liverpool are preparing for a major summer overhaul, and Darwin Nunez is now the latest name linked with an exit from Anfield.
With Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk all nearing the end of their contracts, the club is already facing a significant transition period.
Now, reports suggest that Nunez has been placed on the transfer list, as incoming manager Arne Slot is unconvinced by the Uruguayan striker.
Signed from Benfica in 2022 for a club-record €85 million, Nunez has struggled to live up to expectations, and Liverpool are reportedly ready to move on.
According to TodoFichajes, he is expected to leave at the end of the season, with Atlético Madrid emerging as his preferred destination. The Spanish club is said to be preparing a €65 million bid to secure his services.
Despite being under contract until 2028, Liverpool seem open to parting ways with Nunez, given his inconsistency in front of goal.
With just seven goals in all competitions this season, he has failed to deliver the impact the club had hoped for. If the right offer comes in, his departure looks increasingly likely.
Addressing speculation about his future, Nunez told El Pais: “I’m happy focusing on the national team and enjoying every moment.
I’m not someone who gives up just because I’m not playing regularly. I know I haven’t been at my best, but I’m determined to keep working hard and improving.”
With a busy summer ahead, Liverpool appear set for major changes—and Nunez could be one of the first to move on.
