Liverpool and the Reds have “agreed” on a 24-year-old target; the club president is encouraged to stymie their interest.
According to an Italian reporter, Liverpool and Victor Osimhen have already come to a “agreement” about Osimhen’s possible move.
The striker had initially agreed to extend his 2025 deal with Napoli, but after hearing about the Reds’ interest, Valter De Maggio told Televomero (via Sport Witness) that they had changed their minds.
Additionally, he begged Serie A champions President Aurelio de Laurentiis to fight hard to keep the 24-year-old with the squad through at least the 2019 summer.
The journalist stated, “Osimhen and [agent Roberto] Calenda broke their word after the parties had come to an agreement for the renewal.” What happened? There was also another Premier League club added. I’m talking about Liverpool.
Not only would there be constant contact, but agreements would also be in place, as I recently found out. To be clear, the agreements would be between the Reds and the player, not with Napoli engaged. I’m hoping Laurentiis can hold Victor Osimhen until at least June, but we can’t be positive.
It may be quite positive for Liverpool’s hopes of obtaining one of the most deadly strikers in Europe if it’s true that Osimhen and the Reds have already come to an agreement over the possibility of heading to Anfield.
Until De Maggio’s report is confirmed by further reliable sources, we would advise exercising caution. Even if it turns out to be accurate, there is still a very serious chance of making Napoli appear dumb.
Fortunately, De Laurentiis has admitted that he wouldn’t be able to stop the 24-year-old if he decided to depart.
Osimhen is an undisputed goal scorer; he helped the Azzurri win Serie A last season with 26 goals, and he has already netted six goals in eight league games this year (Transfermarkt).
We wouldn’t get too excited about the notion of the Nigerian wearing the famous red shirt until we see more reliable information on the player, despite encouraging signals that he may be joining Liverpool.
