Liverpool are reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili this summer.
James Pearce confirmed the update after Fabrizio Romano shared the news on X (formerly Twitter).
According to The Athletic, the Reds have discussed a £34 million fee for the Georgian international, who had an impressive Euro 2024 campaign.
However, it’s expected that Mamardashvili will remain with Valencia for the 2024/25 season before joining Liverpool under Arne Slot.
This potential addition bodes well for the future of Liverpool’s goalkeeping department, with Mamardashvili likely to join Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher.
Although Kelleher may eventually move on to a new club, Liverpool’s No.1, Alisson, remains crucial to the team’s success.
The possible arrival of Mamardashvili highlights Liverpool’s proactive approach to securing a long-term successor for Alisson.
