Manchester United’s struggles at Old Trafford continued with a disappointing 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace, marking their seventh home defeat of the season and leaving them with a troubling goal difference of -6.

The pressure is mounting on manager Ruben Amorim to resolve the team’s attacking issues, and he has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the squad before the transfer deadline.

Amorim’s tactical gamble of benching strikers Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee in favor of deploying midfielder Kobbie Mainoo as a makeshift forward did not pay off, as United failed to score for the ninth time this season.

Despite their offensive struggles, the club is on the verge of loaning out yet another attacker, with Marcus Rashford set to join Aston Villa on a temporary deal.

Addressing the team’s scoring woes, Amorim acknowledged the need for immediate improvement. “We discuss this constantly—we have to enhance our performance in all areas, especially in front of goal,” he said.

“We are doing everything possible to strengthen the team while avoiding past mistakes. We understand the challenges the club is facing, but we’re working tirelessly to find solutions.”

With just one day remaining in the transfer window, United is actively searching for a new striker.

The club has been linked with Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku and Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, though Amorim declined to confirm any specific targets.

When asked about a potential move for Tel, who has gone 14 games without a goal, the United boss remained tight-lipped, emphasizing the importance of improving the team as a whole rather than focusing on individual signings.

“We must improve collectively to score goals, and we are giving our best effort to strengthen the squad,” Amorim stated.

“The transfer market is challenging, and making deals under pressure can lead to mistakes. We are trying everything—we desperately want to improve.

I know exactly what this team needs, but whether it’s possible or not, we are doing everything we can.”

As the transfer deadline approaches, United fans are eagerly awaiting updates on potential signings.

Amorim’s remarks suggest that the club is prepared to take a risk on a new forward in a bid to solve their attacking issues.

With time running out, United will be hoping to secure a player who can make an immediate impact and help turn their season around.
