Despite Liverpool’s 4-2 victory against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on May 5th, fans expressed disappointment with Darwin Nunez’s performance as a substitute.

Coming on in the 75th minute to strengthen Liverpool’s lead, Nunez struggled during his brief time on the field, showing inaccuracies in all three passes attempted, missing a significant scoring opportunity, and being caught offside twice.

Fans took to social media to criticize Nunez’s underwhelming display, citing his recent goal drought and overall lack of productivity this season.

Many supporters called for Nunez to be sold in the summer transfer window, questioning his consistency and suitability for the team, and advocating for a more clinical striker to be brought in.

Despite the victory, Nunez’s disappointing performance highlighted ongoing concerns about his contribution to the team’s offensive capabilities, prompting Liverpool to face a crucial decision regarding his future with the club.

Despite Nunez’s struggles, Liverpool dominated the game, with Mohamed Salah scoring the opener in the 16th minute and Andy Robertson adding a second just before halftime.

Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott further extended Liverpool’s lead in the second half before Tottenham pulled back two goals through Brennan Johnson and Son Heung-min.

Nevertheless, Liverpool’s victory secured their third-place position in the Premier League standings.
