JUST IN: Manchester United could shift focus to £67m-rated Benjamin Sesko if Viktor Gyökeres ends up signing for Arsenal, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

With both Arsenal and United prioritizing a new striker this summer, there’s significant overlap in their transfer targets. Although United still have faith in Rasmus Højlund, they are actively seeking to strengthen their attacking options.

Both clubs have shown serious interest in Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres. However, Gyökeres has reportedly told United he prefers a move to Arsenal, making a transfer to the Emirates increasingly likely.

In response, United appear to have lined up a contingency plan. Speaking on *The United Stand*, Jacobs revealed that the Red Devils could turn their attention back to RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko—a player they previously made a strong effort to sign last summer.

Sesko, also on Arsenal’s radar, is valued at around £67 million. Jacobs noted that it could become a case of whichever striker Arsenal don’t sign becoming a more realistic option for United.

> “If Gyökeres goes to Arsenal, Sesko could become a real option again for United,” Jacobs explained. “They were serious about him a year ago, and he only stayed at Leipzig after being convinced by the project.”

Gyökeres vs. Sesko

While both are exciting attacking prospects, Gyökeres has enjoyed more prolific form recently and has a strong existing relationship with current United boss Ruben Amorim, having worked together at Sporting.

Sesko, meanwhile, represents a younger and more long-term option, though some question whether he’s ready to immediately deliver at the highest level—similar to the situation when United signed Højlund.

As the transfer window progresses, the tug-of-war between Arsenal and Manchester United could significantly shape the future of both clubs’ attacking lines.
