Liverpool’s number 10, Alexis Mac Allister, has rejoined Argentina’s training camp ahead of their upcoming match against Bolivia on Wednesday.

The midfielder felt unwell after Liverpool’s recent game against Crystal Palace, where Arne Slot replaced him with Dominik Szoboszlai at halftime.

In Argentina’s 1-1 draw with Venezuela, Mac Allister was benched and did not feature due to a groin injury. However, the good news for fans is that he has returned to training and will be available for the 10th match of the South American World Cup qualifiers.

Currently, Argentina sits atop the standings with 19 points, three points ahead of Luis Diaz’s Colombia.

So far, Mac Allister has scored just once during the campaign, netting in a 3-0 win against Chile from an assist by Atlético Madrid’s new signing, Julián Álvarez.

Since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2024, when Jurgen Klopp was still in charge, the 25-year-old has been an integral part of the team.

After his £35 million move from Brighton, Mac Allister has started nearly every match for the Reds. In his debut season, he contributed seven goals and seven assists, proving to be a perfect addition to the squad.

This season, he has started in all but one match, missing only the EFL Cup’s 5-1 victory against West Ham, with Liverpool set to face Brighton in the quarter-finals on 30 October.

Arne Slot’s side faces a challenging schedule after the international break, starting with a match against Chelsea on 20 October at Anfield.

Liverpool currently leads the Premier League with 18 points from six wins in seven matches, despite a recent 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Mac Allister will now look to help Argentina secure another three points against Venezuela to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

Below is the official tweet from @AnfieldAgenda confirming Alexis Mac Allister’s return to training.
