The former Spain international was officially unveiled as a Fiorentina player on Monday, where he explained his lengthy break from the game.

Speaking to reporters, the goalkeeper said, “Manchester United is a wonderful club, and it will always have a place in my heart.”
He added, “I never thought about retiring, but after 12 years at a top club like Manchester United, it was difficult to find the motivation for a new chapter. I eventually found it at Fiorentina.”
