Naby Keita’s Werder Bremen career has reached a snag as he struggles with ailments and is unable to make his team debut. Keita, who left Liverpool this summer on a free transfer, has experienced fitness problems throughout his career.
Keita joined Werder Bremen in June, but his much anticipated debut was delayed when he had an adductor muscle injury during preseason. The anticipation among the German club’s followers had grown with his arrival, but it has since subsided due to his continued unavailability.
This setback in his health is reminiscent of Keita’s struggles with short-term ailments when playing at Liverpool, which made it difficult for him to establish a regular place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup. Despite his potential, Keita found it difficult to stay consistently fit throughout the course of his five years at Anfield.
Although he played for Guinea over the summer, leading his country in games against Brazil and Egypt, it is still unclear whether he will play in the Bundesliga again five years after leaving RB Leipzig for Liverpool.
