Two potential penalties were overlooked. VAR seemed to favor them, and 50-50 situations consistently favored the opposing side. It felt like every contentious decision went against us, always resulting in advantages for Liverpool. I simply desire fair treatment.”

Mauricio Pochettino has urged referee Chris Kavanagh to ensure fairness in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final clash between Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Chelsea manager expressed frustration over contentious calls that went against his team during their 4-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on January 31.

For Pochettino, this final presents an opportunity to clinch his first trophy with Chelsea, while Jurgen Klopp aims to secure more silverware before departing Liverpool in May.

When asked about the pressure on Klopp and Liverpool to win a trophy this season, Pochettino responded with intrigue, suggesting it might not be stress for Klopp personally but could be for those eager to celebrate with Liverpool.

Following the controversial penalty decision not given to Chelsea in their previous encounter with Liverpool, Pochettino confronted the fourth official, emphasizing the need for fairness in officiating.

He lamented the perceived imbalance in key decisions during the match at Anfield, noting that none seemed to favor Chelsea.

Pochettino stressed the importance of fairness in every aspect of the game and expressed a desire for impartiality from officials.

Acknowledging Liverpool’s quality and Klopp’s coaching prowess, Pochettino commended them but emphasized the need for a level playing field at Wembley.

He expressed a desire to approach the final without feeling the pressure of external expectations, advocating for a match where the best team emerges victorious based on merit rather than external pressures.
