Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, has reiterated his loyalty to the club despite ongoing rumors linking him with a potential move to Saudi Arabia.
Recent reports from Spain have identified Fernandes as a prime target for the Saudi Pro League, with purported bids of €100m (£87.5m) supposedly imminent and heading towards Manchester United’s direction.
Although Fernandes did not outright dismiss the possibility of a transfer, he emphasized his focus on succeeding with both United and the Portuguese national team, affirming his commitment to remaining where he is currently.
“While being desired by other clubs is flattering, regardless of their league or standing, my concentration is on the national team and Manchester United. I am content with where I am,” Fernandes stated during a press conference.
He further addressed the speculation surrounding him, emphasizing his disregard for market rumors until concrete offers arise. Despite turning 29 in September, Fernandes is tied to a contract at Old Trafford until 2026, alleviating any immediate pressure for United to entertain offers for their captain.
Additionally, another Manchester United standout attracting interest from Saudi Arabia is winger Jadon Sancho. However, despite potential January offers, Sancho, at 23, is reportedly uninterested in a move to the Middle East at this stage of his career.
Sancho’s representatives have emphasized their reluctance to engage with the highest bidder in January, with the player aiming for a move to another prominent European league. His preference remains a return to former club Borussia Dortmund, but complexities surrounding the financial aspects of the deal pose a challenge. Other interested clubs, like Juventus, might also encounter difficulties affording such a multifaceted transfer.
