Fabrizio Romano has disclosed that Liverpool received an ‘approach’ from the Saudi Pro League for one of their key players.
The Guardian recently reported that Alisson Becker is being targeted by clubs from the Middle East ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
Romano shared the latest update on the Brazilian goalkeeper, who has three years left on his contract at Anfield, on his YouTube channel.
He stated, “Recently, there have been rumors about Alisson and offers from Saudi Arabia. I checked on this, and I learned that there were some approaches around March and April to understand his situation.
“The response I received was that while there was some interest, Alisson is expected to stay at Liverpool. Liverpool has no plans to change goalkeepers.
They are very satisfied with Alisson, and he is happy at Liverpool. He is not looking to leave for money, so there is currently no expectation that Alisson will move to Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window.”
After last summer’s Saudi transfer frenzy, it’s unsurprising that some clubs from the Arab nation have shown interest in acquiring the best goalkeeper in the world.
Fortunately for Liverpool, Alisson appears to prioritize the prestige of competing in top-tier English and European football over the financial lure of the Middle East.
Simply put, he is a player the Reds absolutely cannot afford to lose this summer, and it’s unlikely he will leave Anfield for the next few years.
