“I’m prepared to join Manchester United, but they need to meet my condition. It seems the decision-makers aren’t too keen,” said Bryan Mbeumo — United’s top transfer target — as doubts emerge over the move due to his specific demand.

Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo is heating up — and rightly so, given the Brentford star’s 20 goals and 8 assists in the Premier League last season. Here’s the latest breakdown of the situation and what it means:

Manchester United are currently in pole position to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo this summer. The 25-year-old is said to prefer a move to Old Trafford as the Red Devils look to rebuild after one of their most disappointing campaigns since the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

While Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur — all Champions League qualifiers — have also shown interest, Mbeumo is reportedly leaning toward United. However, a deal has not yet been finalized.

Brentford rejected an opening offer of £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons, holding out for a valuation closer to £60 million.

Manchester United are expected to return with an improved bid, but nothing is certain until Brentford accept. United fans will recall the infamous John Obi Mikel saga in 2005, when the club thought they had secured the player — only for Chelsea to step in at the last minute — underscoring how unpredictable transfer windows can be.

Tottenham Hotspur could still complicate matters. On Friday, the club shocked fans by dismissing manager Ange Postecoglou, just two weeks after his Europa League victory over United.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is now considered the frontrunner to take the Spurs job — and his close relationship with Mbeumo could influence the player’s decision.

Should Frank join Spurs, he may try to bring Mbeumo with him, offering the appeal of staying in London and continuing under a trusted manager.

United remain optimistic about securing the deal, but Spurs’ managerial shake-up and potential move for Frank should urge the club to act fast and meet Brentford’s asking price before the situation shifts.

Mbeumo’s productivity last season makes him a valuable asset for any top team. If Manchester United want to land one of the Premier League’s most exciting attackers, they must move swiftly and decisively.
