“I’m giving you this week to pack your belongings and leave”: Manchester United’s new owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has officially instructed the £60 million star to exit this week or face contract termination, similar to what he did with Ronaldo and Sancho following Manchester United’s recent draw.

Erik ten Hag believes that Manchester United’s leadership should have informed him by now if they intend to dismiss him.

After a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa, the team remains winless in five matches, with only seven points from seven league games, marking their worst start to a Premier League season and placing them 14th in the standings.

Co-chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe, CEO Omar Berrada, sports director Dan Ashworth, technical director Jason Wilcox, and football board member Sir Dave Brailsford were all present at Villa Park.

Ratcliffe did not publicly express his support for Ten Hag on Friday, and the Dutch manager plans to discuss the situation with the leadership in the coming days.

“I don’t know what has changed,” Ten Hag said regarding his future. “They should have informed me. We have an open and transparent dialogue.”

“I communicate with them regularly, and after the game, I need to focus on my job, engage with the players, manage them, and address your questions.

We always have conversations. I would say we communicate every week, even daily, so I expect to speak with them.”

“I think you described it accurately: external noise. Internally, we are not satisfied; we recognize the need to improve, especially in terms of scoring. This is the reality after several games where we haven’t performed up to standard.”
