Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has expressed frustration over his limited playing time at the club, revealing that he has discussed the issue with manager Arne Slot.
The 21-year-old has struggled to secure a spot in the starting lineup this season, having missed 14 games due to a broken foot.
Even after recovering, Elliott has primarily been used as a substitute and has yet to start a Premier League match this campaign.
Despite the challenges, Elliott remains committed to Liverpool. He impressed during his cameo in the Reds’ win against Brentford and is determined to give the manager a selection headache in upcoming games.
Speaking about his situation, Elliott told reporters, as reported by GOAL:
“We’ve had those conversations, but it’s not just me. There are others in the team who haven’t played as much as they’d like.
I just need to keep working hard, help the team whenever I’m needed, and wait for my opportunity. This is my club, my team, and I’ll do whatever it takes to contribute.”*
Elliott, who is contracted until 2027, has made it clear he has no intention of leaving Liverpool.
While other key players like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold face uncertain futures, Elliott’s loyalty and patience stand out.
His attitude has been commendable, and with Liverpool linked to Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz as a potential Salah replacement, Elliott could still play a significant role in the club’s plans this season.
