Ian Wright has offered his prediction for the upcoming top-of-the-table clash between Liverpool and Manchester City, foreseeing a definitive outcome favoring one of the teams.
Liverpool enters the weekend leading the Premier League by a single point over the defending champions, although both could be surpassed before kickoff if Arsenal secures a victory against Brentford on Saturday.
During the Kelly and Wrighty Show, the former Arsenal striker jokingly expressed his desire for both teams to lose at Anfield to boost his former club’s chances of success. However, he ultimately revealed his belief in which team would come out on top.
Wright remarked, “I’ve just had a wild thought – can both of them lose? That crossed my mind. Can both lose for Arsenal, please? But no, looking at it from Liverpool’s perspective, is it at the Etihad? It’s at Anfield! At this point, I would fancy Liverpool, I would.”
It’s likely that Wright, along with many Arsenal supporters, would prefer to see a draw at Anfield on Sunday, especially if Arsenal can secure a victory the preceding evening.
While Wright predicts a Liverpool win, which would keep City at a distance before their match against Mikel Arteta’s team, he acknowledges that historically, there is little to separate the two teams when they meet.
Despite Klopp’s ongoing injury concerns, the potential return of some key players could strengthen Liverpool’s lineup for the upcoming clash.
