An expert asserts that a Manchester City player earning £180,000 per week tends to commit errors. Craig Burley, the analyst, has raised concerns about Manuel Akanji’s recent performances for Manchester City, particularly noting mistakes made during the team’s 3-2 win against RB Leipzig.

Burley criticized Akanji’s form, attributing faults in the team’s defense to the Swiss international, specifically for Lois Openda’s goal due to Akanji’s turning error allowing the opposition to score past Stefan Ortega.

Despite Pep Guardiola’s previous praise for Akanji’s recent displays against Chelsea and Liverpool, Burley highlighted concerns about Akanji’s inconsistent form resurfacing from his past at Dortmund.

He pointed out that Akanji’s mistakes were evident in the RB Leipzig match and highlighted similar defensive shortcomings among other players, such as Ruben Dias’ hasty approach and Nathan Ake’s struggles in different games this season. Burley also mentioned that John Stones remains the only defender who hasn’t made an error this season, although injuries have limited his playing time.

Despite these issues, the analyst believes that with Manchester City’s defensive prowess and Guardiola’s relentless pursuit of excellence, the team will soon return to its usual high standards.
