Manchester United issued a statement in response to media reports concerning Marcus Rashford. Following reports of him being seen at nightclubs in Belfast, Rashford was absent from Friday’s training due to illness.

The Athletic alleged that he visited Lavery’s Bar on Wednesday night and Thompsons Garage nightclub the following day. Erik ten Hag, ahead of Sunday’s match against Newport, briefly addressed the situation, stating Rashford reported ill, categorizing it as an internal matter.

On Monday morning, Rashford and agent Dwaine Maynard met with football director John Murtough and Erik ten Hag at Carrington to discuss the events in Northern Ireland.

Manchester United released a statement on Monday evening, confirming Rashford’s return to training and availability for selection against Wolves on Thursday. The statement noted Rashford taking responsibility for his actions and stated the internal disciplinary matter is now closed.

According to The Sun, Rashford will face a fine of two weeks’ wages, amounting to £650,000. Various figures, including former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer, commented on Rashford’s situation, urging him not to waste his talent and emphasizing the need for strong management. Shearer expressed concern about something potentially being wrong either at home or in Rashford’s relationship with the club.

Despite the disciplinary actions, Rashford is set to be available for Manchester United’s match against Wolves on Thursday.
