Usama Mir, Mohammad Haris, Faheem Ashraf unlikely to be part of the 15-member squad

KARACHI: Pakistan’s administration is reevaluating its possibilities for the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2023 in light of the country’s disastrous performance in the just finished Asia Cup 2023.

The management of the team, comprising chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and captain Babar Azam, are now considering making changes to the 15-member roster for the big event as a result of the team’s early withdrawal from the Asia Cup.

According to sources, the odds of Mohammad Haris, Usama Mir, Mohammad Wasim Jr., and Faheem Asraf making the World Cup roster look slim given the team’s recent performance.

The 15-member squad is expected to include Hassan Ali and right-arm leg-break spinner Abrar Ahmed.

In addition, the selection of out-of-sorts opener Fakhar Zaman and vice-captain Shadab Khan is expected to go forward for the major competition, notwithstanding any reservations.

Babar Azam (c), Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Abdulla Shafiq, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hassan Ali, and Zaman Khan might make up Pakistan’s potential 15-player World Cup roster.
