Liverpool have been linked with another Real Madrid player in this summer’s transfer window.
Names like Arda Guler and Rodrygo have been mentioned as potential targets for the Reds recently, despite the unlikeliness of those transfers.
According to Graeme Bailey for HITC, Liverpool is considering a move for Andriy Lunin as a possible replacement for either Alisson Becker or Caoimhin Kelleher.
Alisson is being targeted by Saudi Pro League clubs (TEAMtalk), while Kelleher has hinted at wanting to be a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere.
Lunin had a tough Euro 2024, making two costly errors in Ukraine’s 3-0 loss to Romania and losing his spot to Anatoliy Trubin.
However, he was crucial in Real Madrid’s Champions League triumph last season, playing eight matches in the absence of Thibaut Courtois and performing well, including saving two penalties in the shootout win over Manchester City in the quarter-finals.
The 25-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Real Madrid and may struggle for game time with Courtois back to full fitness.
While not on the same level as Alisson, who Liverpool hopes to retain despite Saudi interest, Lunin could be a reliable backup if Kelleher leaves.
A move for Lunin might require a departure from Anfield first, but if that happens, Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes would likely act swiftly.
