Long-term friendships
After an intense 98-minute match, Newcastle and Manchester City shared the points, a result that favored the home team more.
While many international teammates caught up and put the game behind them, Pep Guardiola and Eddie Howe had a lengthy conversation on the touchline.
John Stones also spent time chatting with Kieran Trippier before reflecting on the match with Anthony Gordon.
Jack Grealish, who spent much of the game clashing with various Newcastle players, was in high spirits, chatting with Nick Pope and Gordon before heading back to the locker room.
As Grealish made his way down the tunnel, Newcastle fans took the opportunity to taunt him. Never one to shy away from interaction, Grealish responded by pointing at a fan, motioning for him to be quiet, and walked away with a big smile on his face.
Haaland’s frustration
While several players were in good spirits, Erling Haaland was not as cheerful at the end of the game. Dan Burn had been rough on him throughout the first half, with one challenge tearing Haaland’s socks and leaving him limping until halftime. Despite playing the full 90 minutes, Haaland saw little action in a difficult match.
During an odd injury-time break, the referee awarded Newcastle a drop ball, and Haaland urged him to restart quickly in hopes of finding a winner.
After the game, he went straight to the away fans to thank them before heading to the dressing room, shaking hands only with those directly in his path.
His few chances included a weak effort at Nick Pope and a late header straight at the goalkeeper, missing the chance to equal Sergio Aguero’s record for goals in six consecutive Premier League games.
