Reports indicate that Liverpool’s new head coach, Arne Slot, remains unconvinced by Ibrahima Konaté’s performance during pre-season preparations.

Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp for the 2024/25 season, has seen promising displays from his team in friendlies against Manchester United and Arsenal.

However, according to Football Insider, Slot has raised concerns about Konaté’s suitability, leading to fresh uncertainty about the French defender’s future at Anfield.

Despite joining Liverpool from RB Leipzig for £36 million in 2021 and showing moments of promise, Konaté’s injury struggles and inconsistent form have raised doubts about his reliability.

Slot’s concerns, which have arisen from a brief period of assessment during training and matches, suggest that Konaté’s place in Liverpool’s defense may be in jeopardy, prompting speculation that the club might look to strengthen their defensive options before the transfer window closes.

Despite heavy speculation, Liverpool have opted not to move forward with a potential £85 million deal for Alexander Isak. Instead, the club has shifted its transfer focus and funds toward other priority targets who are considered more suited to Arne Slot’s tactical plans.
