Anthony Gordon on Liverpool’s Radar
One name strongly linked is Anthony Gordon, a long-time target for Liverpool. The Newcastle winger, who is also attracting interest from Arsenal, could be on the move this summer despite Newcastle qualifying for the Champions League. Should he become available, Liverpool are expected to be serious contenders for his signature.
Wirtz Deal Won’t Block Gordon Move
According to former scout Mick Brown via *Football Insider*, Liverpool remain keen on Gordon, even with a big-money move for Wirtz in the works.
Brown notes that Gordon has been high on Liverpool’s shortlist for some time and that the club’s familiarity with the player—who is a Liverpool native and former Everton youngster—could play in their favor.
Although Liverpool already have attacking players like Luis Díaz, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Núñez, potential departures this summer could clear the way for Gordon’s arrival.
Brown emphasizes that if one or more attackers are sold, Gordon could come in as a direct replacement—especially if Slot isn’t fully convinced by the current options.
Newcastle Won’t Sell Easily
Convincing Newcastle to part with Gordon won’t be easy, as he’s considered one of their top performers. Still, Liverpool remain hopeful they can land the England international, particularly if changes in their forward line create the right opening.
