Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly ready to step in if negotiations between Real Madrid and Lille for Leny Yoro fall through, according to Martyn Ziegler at The Times.
The 18-year-old French center-back, also being pursued by PSG, could be secured for around £50 million.
Ziegler noted, “Liverpool and Manchester United are waiting in the wings should Real Madrid’s interest in defensive prodigy Leny Yoro collapse.
The Lille center-back is regarded as a generational talent and will be allowed to leave this summer for a fee of around £50 million.”
Yoro’s contract with Lille expires in 2025, and the club’s president, Olivier Letang, has already approved his transfer this summer.
Liverpool is also monitoring other defenders like Willian Pacho and Waldemar Anton.
Fabrizio Romano has advised Liverpool fans to watch for developments regarding Yoro, describing it as one of the potential “bombs of the market” in the coming weeks.
Liverpool’s recruitment will focus on finding a center-back with consistent availability, aiming to match the durability of Virgil van Dijk, given the injury concerns of Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konaté.
